Soothing Bananas and carrots

Any smoothie lover knows smoothies are an easy and great way to receive nutrition from fruits and vegetables in their raw form.  In addition to those benefits, this smoothie also has a nice calming effect.  As far as nutrients go, the Soothing Bananas and Carrots smoothie is high in potassium and a good source of beta-carotene.  This smoothie also helps assist in

maintaining a healthy weight.

Potassium is an important essential macromineral that the body needs.  Potassium supports cardiovascular health, preserves bone density, reduces the formation of kidney stones and protects against losing muscle mass.

Beta-carotene is a flavonoid compound with powerful antioxidants that protects the body from free radicals.  Research shows that having a healthy intake of beta-carotene in your diet helps decrease the risk of cardiovascular diseases and certain cancers.

Ingredients (1 – 2 portions):

  • 1 cup, almond milk
  • 1 cup, fresh carrot juice
  • 1 tsp., cinnamon
  • 1 tsp., vanilla extract
  • 2 frozen bananas

Directions: 

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend for 30 seconds.  Serve and enjoy.
